Night of Biosignals 2025
Following the great response to the first “Night of Biosignals” in 2024, the Biosignal Processing Working Group at the Institute for Medical Informatics opened its doors again on November 7, 2025, for the nationwide series of events. This year, 14 cities participated in the format, which is organized by the Biosignals Technical Committee of the German Society for Biomedical Engineering in the VDE. Göttingen also participated again in the extraordinary format, which brings modern biosignal research to life for a broad public.
Four diverse keynote speeches
The evening focused on four diverse specialist presentations that impressively illustrated the breadth of current research topics:
Concepts for the digital cardiology of the future - Speakers: Gabriel Riedemann and Philip Hempel
Artificial intelligence for better doctor's letters – the start-up Dedoc - Spearker: Sebastian Schmale
When AI understands the heart – research that makes medicine more explainable - Speaker: Miriam Cindy Maurer
The brain's washing machine - Speaker: Angelika Bader
The 30 or so participants took advantage of the opportunity not only to listen to the presentations, but also to get involved themselves: at various stations, they were able to measure, visualize, and playfully explore their own biosignals. This gave them direct access to scientific concepts that otherwise often seem abstract.
We would like to thank all participants and speakers for their commitment, as well as the main organizers from Jena and the VDE for their successful planning and execution. The Night of Biosignals impressively demonstrated how lively and accessible modern research can be.
