NMDR3: Successful project meeting in Göttingen
On April 8 and 9, 2025, a face-to-face meeting was held on the premises of the Department of Medical Informatics in Göttingen to prepare for the NMDR3 project. The aim of the meeting was an intensive exchange and joint planning of the project, which is scheduled to run from 2025 to 2027.
The guests were Prof. Dr. Alfred Winter, Matthias Löbe and Christian Draeger from IMISE Leipzig (Institute for Medical Informatics, Statistics and Epidemiology). Together with Prof. Dr. Ulrich Sax, Christian Henke and Alessandra Kuntz (Translational Research Informatics Group at the Institute of Medical Informatics), key issues relating to the planned work packages were discussed.
The meeting made a significant contribution to further consolidating the collaboration between the sites and creating a common basis for the successful launch of the NMDR3 project.
NMDR3 aims to support the efforts of FAIR data sharing through a series of measures. Building on the results of the previous project, metadata vocabularies will be implemented in a research data management system and recommendations for data repositories will be developed. Furthermore, generic indicators for data quality, especially in FHIR-based data structures, are to be established and query procedures tested. Another focus is on improving semantic interoperability by further developing methods and tools for associating data elements with concepts from medical terminologies such as LOINC and SNOMED CT. These efforts are complemented by support for data sharing through FAIR data management plans and ideas for FAIR certification for data repositories.
