Prof. Dr. Otto Rienhoff appointed honorary member of the GMDS

On September 7, 2025, the GMDS Advisory Board decided to award Prof. Dr. Otto Rienhoff with honorary membership of the GMDS. The long-standing GMDS member has rendered outstanding services to the GMDS and the subjects it represents.
Prof. Dr. Otto Rienhoff, an outstanding personality, was appointed an honorary member of the GMDS. His decades of strategic work have brought about a lasting transformation in medical informatics in Germany. His contributions to the “TMF – Technology and Methods Platform for Networked Medical Research” (TMF e.V.), the DFG Commission for Computing Facilities, the Council for Information Infrastructures (RfII), and the BMBF Medical Informatics Funding Initiative have been of central importance for the development of medical informatics and digital health infrastructures in Germany and have raised the profile of the GMDS in these initiatives. His many years of work have had a lasting impact on the development of the society in terms of both content and organization and have significantly strengthened its international visibility and reputation.
