From October 6 to 8, 2025, the symposium “Shaping the Future of Medical Decisions – A Symposium on AI in Healthcare” took place in Göttingen, organized by the University Medical Center Göttingen and the Max Planck Institute for Multidisciplinary Sciences. The aim was to promote interdisciplinary exchange on the responsible use of AI in clinical practice and research.

Prof. Dr. Krefting, Director of the Department for Medical Informatics at UMG, contributed her expertise with a presentation on “Impact of Medical Informatics” in the session “Innovation through Data Integration,” was a member of the expert panel “The future and current state of medical decision making,” and participated as an AI expert in the panel “Translational AI and Imaging Innovation – Expert Pitches and Panel.”

The symposium provided an opportunity for exchange between clinicians, researchers, ethicists, and patient representatives, and highlighted the central role of medical informatics in putting AI innovations into practice.
