TRE Workshop on August 19–20, 2025

Organized by Prof. Dr. Ulrich Sax and the team of the Translational Collaborative Research Working Group at the Department of Medical Informatics, a workshop on Trusted Research Environments (TRE) took place on August 19 and 20, 2025, in the context of NFDI4Health at the TMF e.V. premises in Berlin. The workshop brought together international experts from data-holding organizations, operators, and developers of TREs, as well as users, to present and discuss their experiences. Among the speakers was Sophie Wetzig, a medical student at the University Medical Center Göttingen (UMG) and intern at the Institute for Medical Informatics, who presented her experiences from a user perspective as a life scientist. At the end of the workshop, there was consensus that TREs have considerable potential, but that there are still some challenges to be solved. The exact results are currently being processed and will be published subsequently.
