Introducing a new employee - Martin Schilling

Dr. Martin Schilling has been working in the Translational Collaborative Research Group in the Department of Medical Informatics since February 15, 2025. In his role as Data Scientist within the Multiscale Bioimaging Cluster of Excellence (MBExC), he acts as an interface between the research groups and high-performance computing (HPC). Together with MBExC scientists, he develops reusable, standardized workflows for various tasks and implements them on GWDG resources according to sustainable data management methods.
Martin completed his bachelor's degree in physics at the TU Braunschweig and subsequently obtained a master's degree in physics at the Georg-August-University Göttingen with a focus on “Biophysics and Physics of Complex Systems”. He wrote his doctoral thesis on “Deep learning methods for the analysis of cardiac function with real-time MRI” in the working group of Prof. Dr. Martin Uecker at the UMG.
“I think that my experience as a user can help me to better understand the expectations and problems of the scientists at MBExC. I would like to improve my skills in HPC by working according to the FAIR guiding principles of data management.”
