Introducing a new employee - Tobechi Obinwanne
Tobechi Obinwanne’s PhD at the University of Göttingen’s Graduate School of Science (GAUSS), focuses on "Methodology for FAIRification, Data Enrichment, and Data Sharing." His research aims to enhance data reusability and interoperability across medical domains by developing methodologies that integrate external knowledge into existing datasets.
Tobechi's academic journey is marked by a strong foundation in both technology and data management. He holds a Bachelor of Technology in Geology from the Federal University of Technology Owerri in Nigeria. Building on this foundation, Tobechi has pursued advanced studies in data analytics, earning two master's degrees; a Master of Science in Business Intelligence and Data Analytics from the University of Limassol, and a Master of Arts in Innovation and Technology Management at the University of Tartu. This diverse academic background has equipped Tobechi with a deep understanding of both the technical and managerial aspects of data science.
In his professional career, Tobechi has held different roles that have allowed him to apply his expertise in data science and analytics across various industries. Previously, he served as a Research Associate in Data and Analytics at the Upper Austria University of Applied Sciences in Steyr, Austria. In this role, he was involved in numerous machine learning projects, where he applied a variety of algorithms such as linear and logistic regression models, decision trees, random forests, and ensemble methods like XGBoost and LightGBM. His work extended to natural language processing and large language models, where he demonstrated proficiency in LLM interpretability and prompt engineering.
Before his role at the Upper Austria University of Applied Sciences, Tobechi worked as a Data and Business Intelligence Analyst in various industries. During this time, he worked on natural language processing tasks, predictive modeling, and the development of interactive dashboards. His work involved the use of tools such as Excel, SQL, Python, R, Camunda, Apromore, Power BI and Tableau. His tasks also entailed handling large datasets and extracting meaningful insights to inform actionable strategies, defining various metrics and KPIs, and enhancing ETL processes.
In addition to his professional roles, Tobechi has been actively engaged in research, contributing to several peer-reviewed articles.
Tobechi is multilingual. He is proficient in English, Igbo, and Yoruba, with basic knowledge of Hausa, Greek, and French. His dedication to his work has earned him recognition, including a Best Presentation Award at the 2023 International Conference on E-commerce, E-business, and E-Government (ICEEG’ 23) in Plymouth, UK.
