We congratulate Jonas Hügel on the successful completion of his doctorate!
We congratulate our colleague Jonas Hügel on the successful completion of his doctorate! During his research on “Aspects of Temporal Patient Similarity in Complex Diseases” at our institute over the past four years, he was able to make an internationally recognized contribution to a better understanding of complex diseases such as cancer and Post COVID-19. He has continuously presented the progress of his research, which is based on the extraction of temporal patterns from clinical data, in scientific publications and at national and international conferences. In 2023, he completed a six-month stay as a visiting researcher at the “Laboratory of Computer Science, Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School Teaching Hospital” in Boston. His supervisor there, Hossein Estiri, an Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School, made further contacts within our institute during a return visit for Jonas Hügel’s defense last November. Jonas Hügel successfully defended his thesis on November 29th 2024 in the presence of numerous colleagues, family and friends. Upholding Göttingen’s tradition, he concluded the celebrations by kissing the Gänseliesel last Friday. His supervisor Prof. Dr. Ulrich Sax, head of the “Translational Research Informatics” working group at our institute, personally pulled the colorfully decorated trolley with the newly appointed doctor from the graduation ceremony to the Gänseliesel fountain. Congratulations, Dr. Hügel!
