We would like to congratulate our colleague Jacqueline Michelle Metsch on successfully completing her doctorate!
Her dissertation, titled “Advancing Explainable AI in Medicine: Novel Frameworks for Robustness, Evaluation, and Human-Centered Interpretability”, was conducted within the Clinical Decision Support System group headed by Prof. Dr. Anne-Christin Hauschild at the Department of Medical Informatics. In close collaborationwith the Human-Centered.AI group of Prof. Dr. Andreas Holzinger at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna, Austria and the Biosignal Group of the Institute of Medical Informatics, she developed and evaluated novel approaches of explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) for different applications in medical research. With her work, she made an important contribution to the responsible and transparent use of AI in clinical practice. She presented her research regularly at national and international conferences and published in peer-reviewed journals. On April 20, 2025, she successfully defended her dissertation in front of the PhD commitee as well as colleagues, friends, and family. Jacqueline Michelle Metsch is currently on maternity leave – we warmly congratulate her on earning her doctorate and wish her all the best, good health, and many joyful moments in this new chapter!
